“Not for any other, I only want to let you know.
I gave you the sky, but you were never ready to be freed.”
Penny Tai, Nicholas Teo, Denise Ho, Claire Kuo, Rainie Yang, Andy Lau,
This is, without a doubt, a star-studded list of names
But did you have the slightest idea that a talented local musician had written songs for not one, but all of them?
She is a relentless blossom, flourishing even in the seemingly barren soil of local indie music.
Her strive for musicality, experimentation and unwavering spirit for originality is shown in her music.
She is “Tack”;
She is “Yuanhui”;
She is Anna Chong.
There is no conventional pre-emptive that should be applied to her style of music, it could be smooth as a stream or vast as the galaxies; soothing as zen or lively as children; hysteric at times or intricate in other moments. Her style of music bears the vast and light-heartedness like Zhuangzi, like how no words can fully comprehend “Taoism”, and this fruit has come of age after all the years of sweat and tears.
If you have ever experienced her live performance, you will come to understand the indescribable sensation, but if you haven’t, from this day onwards, let Tian Kong have the pleasure and honour to introduce this woman of wonders in the Indie music scene.
